Thoughts on the West and the CCP

It seems obvious now that the West had grossly underestimated the threat of China for decades. The cover up of the pandemic and China’s increasingly aggressive foreign policy have forced scales to fall from eyes. In the wake of the pandemic it seems ridiculous that it was seen as largely benign. As this emerging superpower gradually gains more power and influence it would be wise for the West to recognise that it represents a real existential threat to the current order. It is now apparent that Xi Jinping coming to power represented a marked shift in attitude towards an even more authoritarian…
